So….let’s review.
She made it safe to somewhat admit you like pop music again. She is ghost-dating* (<— a term that I JUST COINED) the biggest R&B hunk ever to chide away from dark skinned girls in videos. Plus she skateboards! Yet the world still isn’t tired of this great year she is experiencing, evidenced by her seventh single in the last 365+ days of total world domination. I’m talking Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
There must be something in the water in Barbados because this girl WORKS. She’s put out albums anually since she first popped up on the scene in 2005. Musically murdering competition like the Teirra Marie’s and Amerie’s. Plus she get cosigns from the big swinging dicks of this rap shit. Opening for ‘Ye, guest verses from Jay, admiration from the likes of Timbo, Cavali, Lagerfeld, and Russian billionaires. The girl has mad appeal.
But, why internet, why?
I leave it to you? Why her, instead of a Mya?
*Ghost-Dating = is a celebrity trend of dating a person, but never ever admitting that you are dating that person. It includes canoodling in public and being caught kissing but never ever claiming the other person. It can also include marrying the person, BUT AGAIN, NEVER EVER ACKNOWLEDGING YOU KNOW OF THAT PERSONS EXISTENCE OUTSIDE A STRICTLY BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP. How romantic.

1. Mya doesn’t have a distinctive voice whereas Rihanna does.
2. Mya came out when there was more female music competition.
3. Mya does more R&B/Rap than Rihanna.
4. Rihanna has rock/punk style which appeals to more people= YT= $$$
5. Def Jam backing her up and investing while Mya can’t really get a label home and the support she would need to be even semi-successful.
6. Mya’s father used to be her manager, which Mya admits was a huge mistake.
Most importantly, the time was right for Rihanna to come out. There’s never been a ‘white’ black girl before.
